Scott D. Tatum is a highly experienced oil and gas professional with 45 years of industry experience. After graduating from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, he began his oil and gas career in Midland, Texas with the Getty Oil Company land department. Following the Getty Oil Company sale to Texaco, Scott decided to enter the independent ranks of the oil and gas industry.
While the Permian Basin went through an active period of acquisition and divestiture in the 80’s and 90’s Scott teamed up with a network of geoscientists and petroleum engineersperforming most facets of the A&D due diligence requirements for many energy companies engaged in these efforts. He formedand managed multiple oil and gas entities designed to adapt to the volatile market changes during that period. His contributions to both the buying and selling processes resulted in numerous multi-million-dollar transactions. This experience provided Mr. Tatum with the engineering, geological and financial tools which he combined with his land and legal proficiency to become a successful energy manager.
One of his consistent requirements has been to stay current or even work in the early stages of new technological advancements in the domestic energy environment. Scott has taken opportunities to own and apply new drilling and completion methods to his targeted acquisition and development plans. One of those technologies is advancements in horizontal drilling methods,
specifically short radius horizontal drilling (SRHD). There are vast opportunities to apply SRHD along with completion methods in the Permian Basin to bring new, left behind reserves at low costs, delivering unmatched economics on a dollar per barrel basis. There is much more to this part of his business model, and it is his plan to implement low-cost high return applications (SHRD combined with new chemical completion methods) that will outperform the shallow carbonate operational competition.
Throughout his career Scott has built a vast network of oil and gas professionals with whom he stays actively engagedwithin his many projects. These projects include full field engineering evaluation and operational duties, management of acquisition analysis for small to large producing properties, and implementation of development plans which now include water management for horizontal drilling programs. Scott’s career has encompassed the many aspects of owning, operating, drilling, developing, enhancing, and servicing energy assets in the domestic oil and gas business.
James McCabe has over forty years of executive management, financial and corporate development experience in the oil and gas business. He began his career as an independent oil and gas investor in 1975. He founded his first oil and gas company in 1979 after returning from Iran and has been an oil and gas operator in the United States since that time.
Mr. McCabe has been responsible for the development of many novel tools and techniques for Ultra-Short Radius Horizontal Drilling, working with Amoco, Chevron and WellTec from 1986 through 1999. He, with his two partners, further improved the Sidewinder ultra short radius patented system he purchased in 1989. He and his partners were awarded a patent for his improved short radius systemin 1995, patent number 5467834. Since 1995 he has worked to acquire, develop and commercially use short radius horizontal drilling technology through companies he founded.
Mr. McCabe graduated from the Bolles Military School in 1963 located in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended and graduated from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, with a BA in History in 1967. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 through 1973 as a helicopter pilot. From 1973 through 1977 Mr. McCabe worked in various aviation capacities in Salvador, Guatemala and the United States. In 1977 Mr. McCabe served as an instructor pilot for the Imperial Iranian Army Air Force in Esfahan, Iran until January 1979.
